Pet sitter is friend to animals and their owners
Terry and Charito Uda like pet sitter Charles Varvaro about as much as their two dogs do.
The couple first started using Paws and Play, Varvaro's pet sitting and dog exercise and group play times service during their vacation.
"Every time we went out of town, it was a big chore to find someone to take care of them," Terry said.
Now, in addition to pet sitting during vacation, Paws and Play comes to their home three times a week and brings other dogs to play with Bear, a German shepherd mix, and Cookie, a black Labrador.
On a recent morning visit, three dogs came to play with Bear and Cookie. The dogs ran around the Uda yard, playing tug-of-war and chasing each other.
Charito and Terry appreciate Paws and Play's emphasis on socializing Bear and Cookie, whom they treat like children.
"He brings different dogs here, which is really nice because they get introduced to our kids," she said.
Varvaro has about 200 clients, 50 of whom use Paws and Play on a regular basis. Many, like the Uda's, don't have the time to regularly bring their dogs out for exercise and socialization. That's where Paws and Play comes in.
Varvaro is very selective about who works for him.
"We treat the people that we hire more like baby sitters than people walking a dog," he said.
Charito and Terry Uda are pleased with professional service they regularly receive.
"He just has a way with the animals," she said.
"We really feel blessed."
